PRACTICAL DJ DECISION GUIDE

DJ-only brief when the venue has a PA system

Check the venue system, input handover, operator roles, monitoring and backup before removing sound equipment from a DJ proposal.

What matters most

Request the venue input type, connection location, channel allocation, operating contact and soundcheck window.

Points to work through

  • Confirm whether the house system covers only speech or also the music level and dance area required by the programme.
  • Assign control of the house mixer, DJ output, microphones, playback level and emergency mute.
  • Check booth monitor or headphone workflow so the DJ can mix without adding unapproved speakers.
  • Keep an agreed fallback for incompatible inputs, unavailable venue staff, failed channels or a delayed soundcheck.
